My art is a world of colour, shapes and textures.
I am a world traveller sensitive to the history, language, customs and colours of the countries I visit.
This process of self discovery has helped me express on canvas my perceptions of the world around me. Whether it was painting still life in a studio or painting landscapes in the world ( Tuscany, Provence, Spain, Cambodia, Vietnam ).
Colour is the driving force through which I could express my innermost feelings of joy, harmony and pleasure. Colour describes who I truly am. Orange and mauve, yellow and blue, reds; all these colours energize me. Life without colour has no meaning for me.
Textures are a means to express what I need to convey on canvas. Whether they are very prominent in the work with drippings, scratches and markings, or just a slight hint such as thin lines of ink, they become a rendition of my view of the world surrounding me.
Shapes bring in my playfulness and feelings of joy and happiness, and in every canvas, I try to express these emotions that are essential in my world.
Oil painting would become my medium of choice. My love of landscapes and my passion for colour have contributed greatly to my artistic quest. I knew I found my calling.
In the last decade, I have exhibited oil, acrylic and watercolour works in galleries locally and internationally ( Montreal, Quebec, Vermont and Florida ).
Interested in the community as a whole, I have also donated my work to benefit events.
Matisse and Kandinsky have inspired me; whether through colour and shapes. Matisse with the colour scheme and evocative subjects; Kandinsky with expressive brushwork as well as playfulness in colour and composition. My work has evolved throughout the last decades and reflects my love of painting. That is why this form of art it is so exciting and captivating.
